Michael G. LaFosse trained as a biologist but working as an artist, he is best known for natural history subjects. Michael is a pioneer in custom hand-papermaking for origami art. His origami animals, sea shells, and plants folded from his own handmade papers have graced museums worldwide, including the Carrousel du Louvre; the Arizona–Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson, Arizona; the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach, Florida; Hangar 7 in Salzburg, Austria; the Peabody Essex Museum, Salem, Massachusetts; at their Origami Do Experience in Waikiki; the Mingei, San Diego; and many others. His commercial art draws attention to print ads, products on TV, and in upscale retail stores such as Hermes of Paris and Saks Fifth Avenue.
